Kickstart auto Installations

Many system administrators would prefer to use an automated installation method to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux on their machines. To answer this need, Red Hat created the kickstart installation method. Using kickstart, a system administrator can create a single file containing the answers to all the questions that would normally be asked during a typical installation.

Kickstart files can be kept on a single server system and read by individual computers during the installation. This installation method can support the use of a single kickstart file to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux on multiple machines, making it ideal for network and system administrators.

Kickstart provides a way for users to automate a Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation.

DHCP Server

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

動態主機設定協議


就是讓使用者不必手動設定電腦的網卡資訊(IP , etc.) , 由DHCP Server 來自動指定 .

Rescue mode (救援模式)

有的時候 ,
Linux 主機硬碟中某一 partition 壞了 , 或 系統被 cracker 破壞了 ,
或 系統管理員 ....... 不小心 ...........  ................... 等等 ...


而造成 Linux 系統無法正常啟動 ,
這時 , 我們可以進入救援模式 ,

"嘗試" 修復系統 .....

或
"嘗試" 救出重要卻沒備份的資料 .....

login to single mode

有些時候 , 出了點狀況 ,
可能是管理人員忘記 Linux 系統的 “最高權限使用者”(root) 的密碼 ,
可能是開機開到某個 Service 時 , 系統就會當掉等等………..
這些個時候 , 我們可以用進入單人模式(Single Mode) , 來除錯 .

Boot processes

當我們按下電腦的電源後 , 它第一個會去檢查顯示卡 ,
 然後進入 BIOS 檢查各種硬體設備 ,
 BIOS 跑完後 , 則進入硬碟的 MBR 區域將開機程序轉交給 Boot loader (開機程序).
 若是 Boot loader 區內沒有資料 , 則直接尋找 Partition Table(硬碟分割表)四筆資料中 ,
 唯一註記為 Active 的那筆 , 依此找到Boot Partition(可開機的 Partition) 內的 Boot loader .

File Permission

要看一個資料夾內有哪些物件 , 我們可以執行 ls 指令 , ls 就是 list 的意思 ,
就跟 Windows 下的 dir 指令類似囉 !

執行
ls

可以看到這個目錄下有哪些物件 .
白色的是一般檔案 , 藍色是目錄 ..... 等等.
這裡對顏色區分物件類型不多做介紹 ,
是因為我也沒去了解 , 而且很多不同的發行版也沒分顏色 ,
所以認為這不是頂重要 .

FileSystem

Dos , Windows 95 系統的檔案系統格式為 FAT16 ,
Windows 98 的檔案系統格式為 FAT32 ,
Windows NT , 2000 , 2003 , xp ...... 為 NTFS(NTFS 還有分不同的版本) ,
而 Linux 的檔案系統格式則是 ext2 , ext3 .
這裡大概來了解一下下 ext2 , ext3 .... 的檔案系統(FileSystem)是如何存放檔案的 .
